August 21, 2016 5:35 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The low pressure area over East Rajasthan and adjoining areas will diffuse further and merge with the axis of the Monsoon trough, which is running up to Northeast Bay of Bengal. The low pressure area over North Bay and adjoining West Bengal is likely to move in a west-northwest direction. It could intensify into a well-marked low while moving inland over Jharkhand.

Widespread moderate rains, with few heavy spells, are likely over most parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, North Odisha and adjoining South Bihar. The system is expected to track in a westerly direction and gradually hit Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh.

We will see mainly dry weather conditions over the northern plains and hilly states. Expect breezy conditions and partly cloudy skies. Localized light rain seems a possibility over most parts including Delhi. Light rain and thundershowers cannot be ruled out over parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Northeast India rains will decrease. However, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam will receive moderate rains.

Down in Peninsular India, a surface level trough along the East Coast could enhance rains over north Andhra Pradesh Coast.

The feeble off-shore trough from South Maharashtra to North Kerala may bring light to moderate rains along the Coast. Scattered light rains are likely over Maharashtra, South Karnataka and interiors of Kerala.
