Weather Forecast for Aug 20: Heavy Monsoon rains in UP, MP, rain in Delhi, Uttarakhand

August 19, 2016 8:02 PM |

The deep depression over Central India has now weakened into depression and is presently marked over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining North Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, western arm of the Monsoon trough is now running close to the foothills of Himalayas, while eastern arm is passing through center of the depression, Jharkhand and further up to the Bay of Bengal.

With this, heavy to very heavy rains will continue over many parts of Madhya Pradesh and South Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

Moderate rains with isolated heavy showers are also expected over Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Scattered light rains also cannot be ruled out over parts of northern plains including Delhi.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is over Saurashtra and Kutch region. The interaction between this system and the depression will give light rain on East Gujarat and South Rajasthan.

Moving down south, the feeble off-shore trough along the West Coast will continue to bring light to moderate rains over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, and North Kerala. Meanwhile, interiors of Peninsular India will continue with subdued Monsoon rains only.

Up in Northeast India, another cyclonic circulation is seen over Mizoram and adjoining areas, giving light to moderate rains over southern parts of the region.
