Weather Forecast for Aug 19: Heavy rains in MP and Chhattisgarh; Monsoon rain in Delhi, Lucknow

August 18, 2016 5:22 PM |

Monsoon conditions remain active over Central and East India due to successive weather systems developing in the Bay of Bengal.

The deep depression which is prevailing over East India is likely to weaken into a depression and will further move in a northwest direction during next 24 hours. Tomorrow the system will be seen over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining South Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, there is a cyclonic circulation over West Uttar Pradesh. The axis of the Monsoon trough will also be running along the foothills of Himalayas via Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and further towards east-central Bay of Bengal.

Thus, we can say that multiple weather systems will bring moderate to heavy showers over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, rainfall will reduce over Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

Light to moderate rains cannot be ruled out over few parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Haryana, Delhi and adjoining Rajasthan along with Northeast India will witness some rains as well.

Coming to western parts of the country, the weather will remain dry over Gujarat and West Rajasthan.

Down south, light to moderate rains are likely along the West Coast including Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa. Meanwhile, rains over Kerala will remain light in nature. Monsoon will remain subdued over interiors of peninsular India.

A fresh low pressure area is expected to develop over Northwest Bay of Bengal after 48 hours.
