Weather Forecast for Aug 18: Heavy rain in Hyderabad, light showers in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai

A Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough is shifting south towards the plains of North India.

Dry weather is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan. Whereas the western districts of Uttar Pradesh may witness isolated light rains and scattered light to moderate showers are possible over Uttarakhand.

Moving to East & Northeast side, the axis of Monsoon trough extends across Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha. Also, a cyclonic circulation over Coastal Odisha is embedded on this trough. This weather system is likely to become more marked during the next 48 hours.

So, light to moderate rains are possible over east and central Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha. The rain intensity is likely of moderate to heavy over southern districts of Odisha. Bihar will observe isolated light rains.

Meanwhile in northeastern states, scattered light to moderate showers will continue over the region.

Coming to Central region, moderate to heavy rains are possible over South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and adjoining Southeast Madhya Pradesh and parts of Marathwada. Meanwhile, North Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh may observe light rains.

The weather over West Madhya Pradesh, South Rajasthan and Gujarat will remain almost dry with isolated light spells.

Down South, a trough is extending from Coastal Andhra Pradesh up to South Tamil Nadu. With this, good rains are possible over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Meanwhile, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala may record light to moderate rains. Madhya Maharashtra, Interior Karnataka and Coastal Tamil Nadu may witness scattered light rains.

Talking about major cities of India, light rains may occur over Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. Whereas Hyderabad will receive heavy rains.
