Weather Forecast for Aug 16: Good rain in Bengaluru, Kolkata; Light rain in Mumbai, Hyderabad

A Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore light rains are likely over the state along with Himachal Pradesh. Parts of Uttarakhand may witness light to moderate showers.

The axis of Monsoon trough continues to run along the foothills of Himalayas. So, northern parts of Punjab may receive isolated rains, while the weather over rest of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan are expected to remain almost dry, but light rains at one or two places cannot be ruled out.

Moving to East & Northeast side, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Odisha. With this, light to moderate rains will continue over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. Whereas light to moderate with few heavy spells are possible over West Bengal, North Odisha and northeastern states.

Coming to Central region, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha may observe scattered light to moderate showers. The weather over West Madhya Pradesh, South Rajasthan and Gujarat will remain almost dry, but light rain at one or two places cannot be ruled out.

Down South, a cyclonic circulation is over Lakshadweep region and a trough is extending from South Andhra Pradesh up to Tamil Nadu Coast. With this, light to moderate rains are possible over South Interior Karnataka, Interior Tamil Nadu and at one or two places over Telangana. Meanwhile, Konkan and Goa and Coastal Karnataka may record scattered light to moderate rains.

Talking about the weather over major cities of India, light to moderate rains may occur over Bengaluru and Kolkata. Hyderabad and Mumbai will receive light rains.
