Weather Forecast for Aug 15: Rain in Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad on Independence Day

Beginning with North, a Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore light to moderate rains are likely over the state along with Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. One or two heavy spells may also occur. There are likelihoods of landslides over the region.

The axis of Monsoon trough continues to run along the foothills of Himalayas. So, northern parts of Punjab may receive scattered rains, while the weather over rest of Punjab, Haryana, Southwest Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan are expected to remain dry.

Talking about East & Northeast side, light to moderate rains will continue over northern areas of east and Central Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and northeastern states.

Whereas scattered light rains are possible over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

Moving to Central region, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha may observe light to moderate showers at few places. Rains will remain subdued over Madhya Pradesh and South Rajasthan. Gujarat may record scattered light rain activity.

Down South, a trough is extending from Gangetic West Bengal up to Tamil Nadu Coast. With this, light to moderate rains are possible over coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh as well as Tamil Nadu. Few spells are also likely over Telangana and Konkan and Goa.

Meanwhile, Interior Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rayalaseema may record scattered light rains.

Coming to the weather over major cities of India, light to moderate rains may occur over Chennai and Kolkata.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai will receive light rains. Delhi will remain dry.
