The last many weekends were mostly rainy and snowy for the hills of North India. Tourist destinations of Gulmarg and Pahalgam did receive some precipitation on account of frequent Western Disturbances. As of now, the Western Disturbance has moved away and we do not expect any fresh one till about the weekend. So the coming weekend will be dry and sunny over the hills. In the plains, Delhi has already crossed the 40°C mark while places like Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Chandigarh are all inching towards it. This week will be hot and dry but as such not amounting to any heatwave conditions.

Widespread rains will continue in Northeast India, all thanks to the cyclonic circulation. Moderate showers likely in Lower Assam and Meghalaya. Rest of the places will receive only light rains. Moist southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are helping this system to sustain its vigour.

Another weather producing system will be the trough extending from West Bengal to Andhra Pradesh which will bring light rain in coastal parts of West Bengal, interiors of Odisha, south Chhattisgarh and parts of Telangana.

The wind discontinuity extending from Marathwada across Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu will bring light rain along the trough line. Hyderabad also stands a chance of receiving some more rains over the next 2 days. Kerala will receive light scattered rains mostly during late afternoon. Definitely it will be not good enough bring much relief from the ongoing heat.

West and Central India will be mainly dry. Gujarat is still enjoying near normal temperatures. Places witnessing above 40°C will include Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema.
