Heatwave has further tightened its grip of heatwave conditions over the country. Maharashtra and Odisha continues to be worst affected states. Temperatures across these regions, especially Vidarbha region are also settling above 43-degree mark.
Further, we do not expect any relief in the next few days. However, Gujarat and Rajasthan are likely to get some relief as mercury is likely to drop over both the states. Similarly, maximum temperatures across northern plains such as Delhi-NCR, Haryana also continued to be appreciably above normal. Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka will record day maximums above 40-degree mark.
The Western Disturbance has now moved away but remnants of system may give isolated rains over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. North Punjab could also witness isolated thunderstorm over one or two place. Meanwhile, northwestern plains will continue with scorching weather conditions on account of dry and hot winds.
Meanwhile in East India, the cyclonic circulation continues to prevail over North Bihar. A trough can be seen running from this system up to Odisha. With this, we can expect isolated pre-Monsoon rains along with thunderstorm or lightning over North Bihar, West Bengal including Kolkata and Coastal Odisha.
Another east-west trough is running from this circulation to Nagaland. With this, heavy to extremely showers will continue over Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. While rest of the states will continue with moderate to heavy rains.
Down south, a cyclonic circulation is seen over North Interior Karnataka and a trough is running from this system up to South Kerala. These systems will not have any impact over the weather that will continue to warm and humid.
However, scattered light rains may occur over southern parts of Kerala.
