Season’s first cyclonic storm Maarutha has formed in the east central Bay of Bengal. The cyclone is expected to move in a northeast direction towards Myanmar and cross coast as a deep depression gradually weakening into a depression.
Heavy to very heavy rains are likely over the neighbouring nation of Myanmar due to this weather system.
Coming to East & Northeast India, light to moderate rain will continue over the northeastern states. A cyclonic circulation is over North Odisha and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from this system up to Lakshadweep. With this, light rains may occur over Gangetic West Bengal and Sikkim.
Coming to North and Central India, dry weather will continue over entire Northwest India. Heatwave will continue over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and East Rajasthan along with parts of Madhya Pradesh. West Rajasthan will continue with severe heatwave where temperatures will remain above the 45-degree mark. While temperatures have dropped in Gujarat, heatwave conditions remain. No relief is expected during the next 3 to 4 days.
Down South, the persisting trough over Kerala and Interior Karnataka will give scattered light to moderate rain over Kerala, South Karnataka and isolated pockets of Interior Tamil Nadu. Rain will reduce over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
