Weather Forecast for April 16: Rain in Kashmir, heatwave in Central, East and Peninsular India

April 15, 2016 4:02 PM |

A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching North India and is presently lying over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. It will start affecting Jammu and Kashmir by Saturday evening.

The system has also induced a cyclonic circulation over South-Central Pakistan.

With this, we can expect light rain and thundershowers over Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The rain intensity will increase from Sunday and will also extend up to Himachal Pradesh and plains Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

Delhi could also stand of passing showers but that will only happen on late Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the prevailing cyclonic circulation over Meghalaya and Assam will continue to give light to moderate rain and thundershowers over Northeast India on Saturday as well.

A trough is also seen running from Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal up to Odisha across Bangladesh. With this, only Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal may see some scattered rain. But isolated activity cannot be ruled out along the trough line as well.

Moving down south, the trough continues to extend from Vidarbha region up to Comorin region across Karnataka and Kerala.

This trough will bring some scattered rain and thundershowers over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and adjoining Interior Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, heatwave will continue to sweep most parts of the country on Saturday also. No relief is likely in coming days as mercury will soar over parts of West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Vidarbha and Marathwada and even in parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

In addition to this, temperatures across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat are showing the rising trend.
