Weather Forecast Feb 15: Rains in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Ambala, Chandigarh

At present, the Western Disturbance is seen over eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir with induced Cyclonic Circulation over North Haryana and adjoining Punjab. A trough is seen extending from this circulation up till East Uttar Pradesh. Parallelly another fresh Western Disturbance is seen over North Afghanistan and adjoining North Pakistan.

With this, the rain and snow activities are expected to reduce over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh but would continue over Uttarakhand for another 24 hours. The foothills of Punjab, Haryana, northwest and central Uttar Pradesh might also receive scattered rain and thundershower activities. Cold north-westerly winds are expected to commence over western parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan. We expect minimums to drop by two to three degrees and will settle in the range of 8°C-10°C.

The eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, along with Bihar, Jharkhand and interior Odisha would receive scattered rain and thundershower activities with hailstorm at one or two places. Weather of West Bengal will be mostly dry, but sky would be cloudy to partly cloudy. Rain and thundershower activity are a possibility over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Assam. Light to moderate rain and snow can be seen over the hills of Arunachal Pradesh. Also, isolated light rain is possible over Nagaland and Meghalaya.

In Central India, a trough is seen running from western parts of Bihar to interior Karnataka across Chhattisgarh. Thus, light to moderate rains with isolated hailstorm activity over Chhattisgarh and a few places of East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha is a possibility. Weather of Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and rest Maharashtra will be dry. Minimums might drop by 1°C-2°C over Rajasthan, Gujarat and North Konkan and Goa.

Down South, the states would witness almost dry weather. However, light rain might occur over one or two places of South Tamil Nadu. Both, day and night temperatures of Karnataka might fall by 1°C-2°C.
