Weather Forecast Aug 28: Moderate Rains in Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Ujjain, Udaipur and parts of Gujarat

The Axis of Monsoon Trough has shifted to South and is passing via Gujarat, Southeast Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. A Cyclonic Circulation is over Kutch region. Therefore, we expect light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over Gujarat, Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Madhya Pradesh. Places like Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Ratlam, Ujjain, Banaskantha, and Patan are likely to see good rains. Scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells may occur over rest Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Also, rain activities will now reduce over Maharashtra, but South Konkan and Goa might receive moderate rains.

In the eastern parts of the country, a Cyclonic Circulation can be seen over North Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. Therefore, we expect scattered light to moderate rains over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal along with the southern districts of Jharkhand. Puri, Jharsuguda, Bankura, Purulia, and Jamshedpur might see scattered rain and thundershowers. While subdued Monsoon activity will continue over Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Northeast India.

Down South, Monsoon surge is still active over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Therefore, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are possible over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Light to moderate rains can be a sight over few places of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Remaining South Peninsula might witness light rains at few places. Whereas Andaman and Nicobar along with Lakshadweep Islands might see light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells.

Finally, up in the North, Monsoon will remain subdued over North India. Light rain with one or two moderate spells are possible over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh might see patchy and localized rain or thundershower activities. Temperatures may remain marginally above normal over these areas.
