Weather Forecast Aug 19: Newly Formed Low Pressure Area to give fresh rains in East India

Starting with Central India, due to the presence of a Low-Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining parts of Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha coast, moderate rains and thundershowers are likely over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. One or two places might even receive heavy rains. Mumbai will remain mainly warm and dry with light breeze. However, occasional spells of light rains cannot be ruled out. Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra would receive light rains at scattered places. While Marathwada and Gujarat are likely to remain mostly dry with light rains at isolated rains.

Talking about East India, the same system would affect West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh in the form of moderate rains and thundershowers at many places. Heavy rains can also be seen at one or two places. While Northeast states will remain mainly warm and humid. The city of Kolkata will experience light to moderate rains and thundershowers. The day will remain comfortable with a cloudy sky.

Coming to North India, a Western Disturbance lies over extreme Northeast parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the presence of this system, Uttarakhand will experience light to moderate rains and thundershowers at many places. While Himachal Pradesh and eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir, might receive light rains at isolated places. Due to the lack of moisture content, Punjab, Haryana and West Rajasthan will remain mostly dry along with increase in day temperatures. Delhi and parts of West Uttar Pradesh might see short spells of light rains at one or two places while some eastern parts of Rajasthan might see light to moderate rains.

Lastly South India which is gearing up for good rainfall activities due to the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation off Tamil Nadu coast and under the influence of a Low-Pressure Area in North Bay of Bengal. The state of Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala would experience light to moderate rains and thundershowers at many places. Cities like that of Chennai, Bengaluru, Madurai, Thrissur and Coimbatore will get to these rains.
