Weather Forecast April 27: Depression to intensify into Cyclone Fani, heat wave in North and Central India

Beginning with the cyclone update, the Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal and would intensify into a Deep Depression soon and is likely to form in the cyclonic storm Fani in the next 24 hours. This system would move in Northwest direction closer to Tamil Nadu. Due to moisture feed from Bay of Bengal, isolated rains are expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh with scattered rains in Kerala. Weather over Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai will be dry.

Up in the North, dry northwesterly winds are blowing across the hills and as well as over the Northern Plains. Thus, dry weather conditions would be seen over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Day temperatures of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and places of Northwest Uttar Pradesh like Meerut, Bareilly and Muzaffarnagar would rise due to clear sky and dry weather. While, heat wave conditions are expected over Southwest Uttar Pradesh like Jhansi, Banda and adjoining areas along with parts of Rajasthan. The national territory Delhi would witness very hot and sunny weather.

Whereas in Central India, dry winds from the Northwest would continue over the central parts of the country. Weather will be dry and hot with clear sky. Temperatures would increase over South Rajasthan and Gujarat. Heat wave conditions are expected at isolated pockets of East Rajasthan, Gujarat, West and South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Marathwada. Similarly, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh would also witness dry and hot weather with heat wave like conditions. Temperatures over most parts of Central India will be above 40 degrees while Mumbai might come close to the mark of 37 degrees.

Lastly, in East and Northeast India, a Cyclonic Circulation is seen over eastern parts of Assam and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from Bangladesh to South India across West Bengal and Jharkhand. Thus, scattered light to moderate pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Weather over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal would be dry.
