Weather Forecast April 1: Rains to lash parts in Northeast and East India, northwestern plains to remain dry

A trough is extending from Bihar to Odisha with an embedded cyclonic circulation over South Jharkhand and adjoining parts of Gangetic West Bengal, in association with an anti-cyclone over Central Bay of Bengal. Another cyclonic circulation lies over South Assam. Due to all these weather systems, light to moderate rain and thundershowers with strong winds are expected over the northeastern states and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. While, light rains will occur in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.

Moving towards Central India, due to a feeble cyclonic circulation is seen over Chhattisgarh, light rains with strong winds are expected in Chhattisgarh. However, isolated pockets in Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh will continue will heatwave like condition.

In South India, a cyclonic circulation lies over South Telangana and parts of North Interior Karnataka. A trough is running from this system till Kerala. Thus, light rains are expected in parts of Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Tamil Nadu will remain hot and dry.

Up in North India, a feeble Western Disturbance is moving across North Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, light rains may affect over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will remain dry and very warm.
