A fresh Western Disturbance will reach Jammu and Kashmir by Thursday and start affecting the entire state and parts of Himachal Pradesh. Thundershower activity will trickle down to the foothills and the plains of North India
The cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining areas are governing the wind pattern, bringing humid easterly winds over the area. These winds are keeping the temperatures under check in the plains. Minimums are also around or below normal.
Both these systems together will be responsible for dust storms followed by rain for next 2 days. East India has been the intense weather pocket for the last 48 hours. On Tuesday, at least 30 people lost their lives and several others were injured as thunderstorm activity gained strength in east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
High velocity winds travelled further to Jharkhand and West Bengal. Bihar was already grappling with Saturday's earthquake and its aftershocks, when a thunder squall brought fresh panic among people.
We could blame it on the cyclonic circulation over Bihar and adjoining areas. This weather system is giving rise to favourable conditions for induction of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal. Therefore, rain is likely to continue over East and Northeast India at least for next 3 days.
Isolated and light rain will continue over interiors of South India and adjoining Kerala region. In view of the wind discontinuity.
