Regular and prolonged downpours that marked the beginning of March are expected to return as the spring season approaches its end. Back to back spells of rain are likely to affect large parts of the country.
The first spell of rain will commence over the hills on the 28th of March and continue for the next two days. A fresh western disturbance and the induced cyclonic circulation could be attributed to this spell of rain. By 29th, the system will bring under its purview Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. Rain will come as a huge relief for this part of the country.
Rain will reduce over North India on the 31st and pick up once again from the first. Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh will receive rain. The wet spell will continue for the first week of April.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Northeast India were devoid of any weather activity for a long time. But this region will remain the hotspot for the next 10 days.
Peninsular India is also witnessing pre-monsoon activity. Coastal and Madhya Maharashtra received good amounts of rain on Thursday. This region will remain susceptible to rain accompanied by hailstorm during late afternoon and evening hours for the next three days.
Rain will continue over here and gradually spread across Marathwada and Telangana by the 31st of March. Northern parts of Karnataka could also receive some rain.
