Massive heat wave continues to sweep most parts of the country, with death toll rising over 500. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are the worst affected states, which have alone reported over 400 deaths.

Simmering heat wave has not even spared Uttar Pradesh, which has witnessed some record breaking temperatures.

According to Skymet, no respite is expected as heat wave to severe heat wave conditions would prevail over Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Jharkhand, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Presently, dry and hot northwesterly winds are blowing over the region and this will further lead to increase in day temperatures.
Meanwhile, a fresh Western Disturbance is moving across the hilly region, which will give light to moderate rain over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours.

Northeast region remains the rainiest pocket of the country, as the cyclonic circulations over Bihar and Assam region, continue to give moderate rain over Northeastern states. We expect rain to pick up the intensity during next 24 hours.

We can see a trough extending from Bihar till Andhra Pradesh along the coastline, which could trigger thunderstorms with squally winds of 60 to 80 kmph over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Moving on to south India, pre-Monsoon activity continue to be on lower side over Peninsular India. Tomorrow rain will be confined to Kerala and adjoining areas only.

While, mainland remains mostly dry Andaman and Nicobar islands are witnessing heavy rain, which will continue for next 24 to 48 hours as well.

Let’s now have a look at the maximum temperatures in major cities on Tuesday. As Heat wave remains unabated, maximum temperature is expected to reach around 44 degrees. Bhopal will settle around 44 degrees. While, weather in Mumbai remains hot and humid with maximum temperature hovering around 35 degrees.

Day temperatures in south India continue to rise in absence of any weather activity. Maximum temperature in Chennai and Bangalore will settle around 42 and 33 degrees, respectively.
