A feeble Western Disturbance has given widespread light rain over Jammu and Kashmir in last 24 hours. Gulmarg recorded 16.4 mm of rain, Pahalgam 12 mm, Srinagar 10.6 mm and Kupwara 8.3 mm of rain. This spell of rain is expected to marginally pull down the temperatures in the region.
As expected, the system did not affect the northern plains, where temperatures continue to be on a rising spree. Delhi crossed 35-degree mark on Tuesday and is expected to even surpass 36°C in next 24 hours. Similarly, Punjab and Haryana will too register rise in temperatures.
Heat wave has intensified its grip over parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat as maximum temperatures are settling around 40 degrees.
Meanwhile, in the absence of any pre-monsoon activity, there has been no change in weather conditions across southern peninsula. Rayalseema and Telangana continue to be one of the hottest pockets of the country.
