Southwest Monsoon has advanced further covering entire Kerala and Tamil Nadu and some more parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. On western side, Monsoon has touched Ratnagiri, while on eastern side it has reached Chennai. However, Monsoon current remains weak under the influence of cyclone Ashobaa but it is likely to pick up once again as the cyclone becomes weak.
On Friday, we can expect light rain across peninsular India barring coastal Karnataka which is expected to witness moderate rain. Cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Bihar and Jharkhand and a trough from this is extending up to Tamil Nadu across Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Due to this, we can expect light rain and thunderstorm activity over parts of Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Persistent heavy rain over Northeast India has created flood like situation over several places of the region. Weather conditions will remain favorable for heavy to very heavy rains over northeastern states on Friday.
Moving on to North India, Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir will be giving light rain over hilly states, mainly over Jammu and Kashmir. While an induced cyclonic circulation over north Rajasthan will trigger dust storm and thunderstorm activities over the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and north Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh will continue to reel under the grip of heat wave conditions with maximum temperatures settling in mid 40s.
