Southwest Monsoon has covered entire Northeast India, some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. The low pressure area over east-central Arabian Sea will now move in the northwest direction, increasing rainfall over coastal areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka. But rain will reduce over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka. Scattered rain will continue over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra region.
Mumbai received scattered pre-Monsoon showers in last 24 hours. As the official onset date of Monsoon is round the corner, pre-Monsoon activity will become more intense in the city.
The cyclonic circulation over East India persists. Thundershowers cannot be ruled out all along the trough line, across Chhattisgarh,Vidarbha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Northeast India will receive fairly widespread moderate to heavy showers. Thanks to moisture laden southerly winds coming from the Bay of Bengal.
The fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan region will bring light rain at a couple of places in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.The plains of North India will be hot and dry. North-westerly winds blowing over the region will gradually increase the temperatures.
But, there’ll be no heat wave across the country at least for next 2 days. East Uttar Pradesh and Central India will the hottest pocket of the country.
