Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra continue to be the hottest pocket of the country, with maximum temperatures across these states settling above 42 degrees. Heat wave condition is likely to prevail over parts of Gujarat, adjoining Rajasthan and Vidarbha region, as indicated by the red patches.
Places lying within the orange patch will record maximums in early 40s. While the yellow patch indicates that temperatures will settle above 38 degrees that includes most parts of south peninsular and northern India.

Hot and dry north westerly winds are blowing over these areas and are responsible for rising temperatures. There will be no relief from soaring mercury for at least next 3 to 4 days.

Several parts of South and Central India are expected to witness scattered to light rain during the next 24 hours, bringing temporary relief from the sweltering heat.

A cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Chhattisgarh and neighbouring areas and a trough from this system is extending up to South Tamil Nadu across Vidarbha, Telangana and interior Karnataka.

Both systems coupled together are expected to give rain over Chhattisgarh, parts of Vidarbha and South India.
Northeast India will also be witnessing rain on account of another cyclonic circulation prevailing over the region.
