Successive rainy spells in North and Central India, since the beginning of the month, made this March the ‘wettest’ in last 100 years. Most places have surpassed the monthly average rainfall by a big margin.
The first two weeks of March witnessed successive spells of rain which led to a significant drop in maximum temperatures. And as more showers are in the offing, even April will begin on a cool note.
As have been reiterated by Skymet, unseasonal rains caused extensive damage to wheat and vegetable crops in various parts of the country.
Thunderstorms will start developing over Jammu and Kashmir once again from tomorrow. Maximum in Delhi will not rise above 32 degrees. Punjab and Haryana will remain cooler with maximums around 26 degrees for the next few days.
As rain has receded now but temperatures will not rise immediately in Central Parts. Nagpur and adjoining areas are enjoying cool weather at present and maximums will not rise above 33 degrees on Wednesday. Mumbai will be warmer around 35 degrees.
The Kerala coast and interiors of south India could receive some rain tomorrow. Chennai, Hyderabad and other places on the eastern coast will remain dry.
