During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over South Konkan and Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep Islands. While Active Monsoon was witnessed over Rayalaseema, Kerala, Interior Tamil Nadu, parts of Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam.
Monsoon remained normal with light to moderate rains over remaining parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Southeast Madhya Pradesh, Interior Odisha, rest of Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, North Rajasthan, parts of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Major rain contribution came from Thiruvananthapuram that recorded 86 mm of rainfall, followed by Jalpaiguri at 83 mm and Gulbarga 82 mm.
As on September 7, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 5%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest, Central and South India are still rain deficient by 5%, 9% and 4%, respectively.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Sri Ganganagar, Hisar, Delhi, Hardoi, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur and towards east Assam across sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, moderate rains with isolated heavy falls are likely over Konkan and Goa and adjoining Madhya Maharashtra, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Monsoon is likely to remain active over Interior Karnataka, parts of Kerala, Interior Tamil Nadu, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon is expected over Telangana, Marathwada, Vidarbha, South Madhya Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Interior Odisha, rest of northeastern states and Uttarakhand.
Live status of Lightning and thunder
Talking about major cities of India, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai are likely to witness light spells. On the other hand, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi will observe dry weather conditions.
