Monsoon Forecast for Sep 7, 2017: Rain in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Assam, Meghalaya

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Rayalaseema, parts of Interior Karnataka, South Kerala and Lakshadweep Islands. While Active Monsoon was witnessed over remaining parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Monsoon remained normal with light to moderate rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, parts of Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

Major rain contribution came from Mysuru that recorded 123 mm of rainfall, followed by Punalur at 92 mm and Minicoy 77 mm.

As on September 5, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 4%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest, Central and South India are still rain deficient by 4%, 7% and 6%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough continues to run close to the foothills of Himalayas.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain active over Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, parts of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon is expected over Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Interior Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala.
