Monsoon Forecast for Sep 6, 2018: Monsoon rains in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, MP, UP

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Ferozepur, Ambala, Bijnor, Gorakhpur, Patna, Dhanbad and further southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.

As a result, Monsoon remained active over Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and Gangetic West Bengal.

Major rainfall share came from Kanpur that recorded 103 mm, followed by Kasauli 83 mm and Satna 81 mm.

As on September 4, the countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency remained stagnant at 6%. Division wise, South Peninsula is rain surplus by 6%, Central India is deficient by a mere -2%.While, East & Northeast India remains highest rain deficient pocket at -24%, followed by Northwest India at -3%.

During the next 24 hours, vigorous Monsoon conditions over Odisha and Chhattisgarh would give moderate to heavy with isolated very heavy showers. Correspondingly, Monsoon would remain active over Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Jharkhand, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh. All these places may see light to moderate with isolated heavy showers.

Meantime, Normal Monsoon conditions will go on over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Northeastern states. These regions are likely to record light to moderate rains.
