During the last 24 hours, Active Monsoon conditions were seen over South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Interior Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Northeast India particularly Arunachal Pradesh. Whereas, Monsoon remained normal over North Rajasthan, Punjab, Vidarbha, South Madhya Pradesh, South Chhattisgarh and parts of Odisha.
Major rain contribution came from Coimbatore that recorded 88 mm of rainfall, followed by Siliguri at 67 mm and Pasighat 50 mm.
As on September 4, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 4%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest, Central and South India are rain deficient by 3%, 7% and 6%, respectively.
Presently, the axis of the Monsoon trough continues to run close to the foothills of the Himalayas.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain active over Interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, South Telangana. Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and remaining parts of Telangana. Light rainfall activity is expected over West Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa.

Coming to metro cities, Bengaluru will witness good rains while Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad are likely to witness isolated light showers. However, Delhi will remain dry.
