Monsoon Forecast for Sep 30, 2017: Rain in West Bengal, Konkan Goa, Vidarbha, Assam

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over South Madhya Maharashtra, a few parts of Coastal Karnataka and North interior Karnataka. Active to vigorous Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Assam and Nagaland.

Active Monsoon conditions were observed over Kerala, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Odisha, remaining parts of northeastern states, a few parts of Vidarbha, Telangana and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Normal Monsoon conditions were witnessed over West Bengal, Jharkhand, Interior Odisha, Chhattisgarh, North and Interior Tamil Nadu.

Major rain contribution came from Cherrapunji that recorded 128 mm of rainfall, followed by North Lakhimpur 114 mm and Shirali 107 mm.

As on August 28, the cumulative countrywide rainfall remains deficient by 6%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India, Central and South India are rain deficient by 10%, 6% and 1%, respectively.

As predicted by Skymet Weather, withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon 2017 has finally begun its journey from some parts of Punjab & Haryana, West Rajasthan, Kutch and then towards North Arabian Sea.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous over West Assam. Active Monsoon conditions are likely over Konkan & Goa region, South Madhya Maharashtra, a few parts of Vidarbha, rest parts of Rayalaseema and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over remaining parts of northeastern states, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and North Tamil Nadu.
