During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. While, Monsoon remained active over Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Northeast India, Kerala, Konkan and Goa along with Gujarat.
Major rain contribution came from Nahan that recorded 127 mm of rainfall, followed by Coimbatore at 113 mm, and Patiala at 93 mm.
As on September 1, the cumulative countrywide rainfall deficiency has come down to -3%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest, Central India and South India are rain deficit by 3, 5 and 7 percent. Meanwhile, rains in East and Northeast India remain at normal.
Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Ferozepur, Karnal, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Malda and thence towards Northeast Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Active Monsoon conditions are over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, foothills of Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, parts of Andhra Pradesh Coast, and Tamil Nadu.

Remaining parts of the country will witness normal Monsoon conditions while rains will be subdued over West Rajasthan and Kutch region.
