Monsoon Forecast for Sep 29, 2017: Rain in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad; Dry in Delhi, Mumbai

Monsoon remained vigorous over North Kerala and adjoining parts of Coastal Karnataka, while active Monsoon conditions were seen over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, South Telangana, Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of Karnataka and South Madhya Maharashtra, wherein light to moderate rains with isolated heavy showers were witnessed.

Major rain contribution came from Cannur that recorded 77 mm of rainfall, followed by Kozhikode at 48 mm and Mangaluru 48 mm.

As on September 28, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 5%. Talking about the regional distribution, Northwest India is rain deficient by 9% and Central India by 6%.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running along the foothills of Himalayas across East Uttar Pradesh, North Bihar and further up to East Assam.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will be vigorous over northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Meanwhile, Active Monsoon conditions will prevail over most parts of East as well as South India.
