Monsoon Forecast for Sep 28, 2018: Rain in Karnataka, Northeast India, Tamil Nadu, Kerala

The Monsoon trough continues to remain defused and unmarked. During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained active over South Konkan and Goa, South Maharashtra and Lakshadweep. At the same time, normal monsoon conditions were seen over Karnataka, Interior parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Major rainfall contribution came from Mangan in Sikkim at 81 mm, followed by Minicoy at 73 mm, Erode at 62 mm and Ratnagiri at 54 mm.

As on September 26, the country wide rainfall deficiency stands at 9 percent. Northwest, Central and South India have received normal rains and are deficient by only 1%, 5% and 2%, respectively. Meanwhile, East & Northeast are rain deficient by 24%.

During the next 24 hours, Normal Monsoon conditions would occur over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, South Konkan and Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra, interior parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala., giving scattered light to moderate rains.

Meanwhile, subdued Monsoon rains will occur over Coastal Tamil Nadu. Rest of the country will experience dry weather.
