Monsoon Forecast for Sep 26, 2018: Rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal, northeastern states to continue

The Monsoon trough continues to remain defused and unmarked.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over Himachal Pradesh and parts of Punjab. At the same time, active monsoon conditions were witnessed Northwest Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam and isolated pockets of Kerala.

Major rainfall contribution came from Hoshiarpur in Punjab that recorded 147 mm of rain, followed by Una 133 mm, Punalur 121 mm and Krishnagiri 96 mm.

As on September 25, the country wide rainfall deficiency stands at 9 percent. Northwest and South India are receiving normal rains and are deficient by only 1% each. Meanwhile, Central along with East & Northeast are rain deficient by 5% and 24%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, Normal Monsoon conditions would occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, northeastern states, Kerala, parts of Rayalaseema, Interior Tamil Nadu, parts of Konkan and Goa, South Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, giving scattered light to moderate rains.

Meanwhile, subdued Monsoon rains will occur North Punjab, East Haryana, Delhi, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, rest of West Bengal, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, South Chhattisgarh, Telangana, South Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and parts of Vidarbha.
