Monsoon Forecast for Sep 25, 2018: Heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand to continue

At present, the Monsoon trough continues to remain defused and unmarked.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, parts of Punjab and Haryana. At the same time, active monsoon conditions were witnessed over East Rajasthan and parts of North Gujarat, South Interior Karnataka and East Assam.

Major rainfall contribution came from Pathankot in Punjab that recorded 243 mm of rain, followed by Kapurthala 227 mm, Amritsar 203 mm, Dalhousie 170 mm and Karnal 142 mm.

As on September 24, the country wide rainfall deficiency stands at 9 percent. Meanwhile, all the parts of India i.e. northwest, central, east & northeast and south India are rain deficient by 4%, 4%, 24% and 1%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, Vigorous Monsoon conditions would continue over parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, giving scattered moderate to heavy rains. At the same time, Monsoon would remain active over East Punjab, North Haryana and Northwest Uttar Pradesh with moderate showers over these areas.

Meanwhile, normal Monsoon rains will occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Odisha, Interior Karnataka, Interior Tamil Nadu and parts of Konkan & Goa.
