In the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon gave extremely heavy rains over Konkan region. Whereas Vigorous Monsoon conditions were seen over Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and parts of Bihar, giving heavy rains over these areas.
Monsoon remained active, with moderate rains over northeastern states, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and South Gujarat.
Major rain contribution came from Dahanu that recorded 305 mm of rainfall, followed by Mumbai at 304 mm, Mahabaleshwar 248 mm and Harnai 222 mm.
As on September 19, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 6%. Talking about the regional distribution, Northwest India is rain deficient by 11% and Central India by 7%.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running from Bikaner, Gwalior, Satna, centre of low pressure area and further towards east-central Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions will prevail over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, northeastern states, Maharashtra, Konkan, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
