Monsoon Forecast for Sep 2, 2017: Rain in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained active to vigorous over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. While, active Monsoon conditions were observed over Punjab, East Rajasthan, Konkan and Goa, South Interior Karnataka, parts of Tamil Nadu, North Coastal Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, West Assam and Mizoram.

Major rain contribution came from Dehradun that recorded 150 mm of rainfall, followed by Bengaluru and Rohtak at 72 mm, respectively.

As on August 31, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 4%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest and Central India are rain deficient by 4%, whereas South India is rain deficit by 7%.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Ganganagar, Fatehabad, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Purnea, Kolkata and further towards Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, West Assam and Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura.

Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over Delhi, Gujarat, parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Coastal and Interior Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal and parts of East Uttar Pradesh.
