During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over South Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, parts of Vidarbha, North Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.
Active Monsoon conditions were seen over South Gujarat, South Interior Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Northeast India.
Major rain contribution came from Valparai that recorded 169 mm of rainfall, followed by Contai at 159 mm and Ratnagiri at 108 mm.
As on September 16, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 6%. Coming to the regional distribution, East and Northeast, Northwest, and Central India are rain deficient by 3%, 10% and 9%, while rains continue to be at normal levels for South India.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Amritsar, Patiala, Nazimabad, Varanasi, Gaya, Bankura, Digha and towards East Central Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous over Konkan and Goa.
Active Monsoon conditions will be seen over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Vidarbha, and parts of Telangana, South Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
Monsoon will remain normal over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Some rains may also occur over parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, South Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
