Monsoon Forecast for Sep 17, 2017: Rain in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained active to vigorous over Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra, parts of Konkan, Kerala, Odisha, Telangana, and East Gujarat. Active Monsoon conditions prevailed over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Tamil Nadu, Gangetic West Bengal, and Uttarakhand.

Major rain contribution came from Mengaluru and Nalgonda that recorded 102 mm of rainfall, followed by Buldhana at 92 mm.

As on September 15, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 6%. Coming to the regional distribution, Northwest, Central and South India are rain deficient by 10%, 9% and 1%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing from the extreme south of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal towards east central Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active over South Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, coastal and North interior parts of Karnataka and Kerala. Normal Monsoon conditions will prevail over Rayalaseema, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and parts of Jharkhand.

Subdued Monsoon conditions are likely over Interior Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, northeastern states and Uttarakhand.
