In the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, parts of Madhya Pradesh and northeastern states, giving heavy rains over thee areas. Whereas it remained active, with moderate rains over West Tamil Nadu, Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, South Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Major rain contribution came from Gulbarga that recorded 102 mm of rainfall, followed by Hyderabad at 90 mm, Kohima 72 mm and Punalur 70 mm.
As on September 13, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 6%. Talking about the regional distribution, Northwest India is rain deficient by 9% and South India by 3%.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running from Amritsar, Moradabad, Bahraich, Patna, Shanti Niketan, Kolkata and further towards Northeast Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active over South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, Kerala, South Karnataka, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. One or two heavy spells also cannot be ruled over these regions.
Live status of Lightning and thunder
Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions will prevail over rest of northeastern states, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, North Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and West Tamil Nadu, giving scattered light to moderate rains over these regions.
