Monsoon Forecast for Sep 11, 2017: Rain in Bengaluru, Karnataka, West Bengal, Uttarakhand

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, South Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

While Active Monsoon was witnessed over Kerala, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Major rain contribution came from Cherrapunji that recorded 223 mm of rainfall, followed by Bagdogra at 142 mm and Cooch Behar 95 mm.

As on September 9, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to be deficient by 5%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, all the regions including East & Northeast, Northwest, Central and South India are rain deficient by 1%, 7%, 9% and 2%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough continues to run along the foothills of Himalayas.

During the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy Monsoon rains are possible over North Kerala, South Karnataka, West Tamil Nadu, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Active Monsoon conditions are likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, North Madhya Maharashtra, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, north and coastal parts of Karnataka and rest of Tamil Nadu.

In the meantime, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and South Gujarat will witness Normal Monsoon.
