Monsoon Forecast for Sep 10, 2017: Monsoon rains likely over Mumbai, Bengaluru; Delhi to remain dry

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, Maharashtra and South Madhya Pradesh witnessed active Monsoon conditions. Light Monsoon showers were recorded over West Bengal, Odisha Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh.

Major rain contribution came from Cherrapunji that recorded 168 mm of rainfall, followed by Pamban at 113 mm and Pasighat 109 mm.

As on September 8, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 5%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest, Central and South India are still rain deficient by 6%, 9% and 3%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through the foothills of Himalayas.

During the next 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon is likely to remain active to vigorous over Tamil Nadu, South and coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Active Monsoon condition is likely over the remaining parts of Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and South Madhya Pradesh.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Meanwhile, West Bengal, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and northeast Uttar Pradesh will witness normal Monsoon activities.
