Monsoon Forecast for Sep 1, 2017: Rain in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained active to vigorous over Saurashtra and Kutch. While, Normal Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, west and central parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, parts of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, also over northeastern states, coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

Major rain contribution came from Cooch Behar that recorded 100 mm of rainfall, followed by Agumbe at 92 mm and Kandla 73 mm.

As on August 30, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 3%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest, Central and South India are rain deficient by 4%, 4% and 7%, respectively.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through the well-marked low pressure area, Gandhinagar, Ratlam, Damoh, Raipur, Puri and towards east central Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active over Kutch.

Meanwhile, normal to active Monsoon conditions are likely over Delhi, parts of Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North Chhattisgarh, Interior Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Coastal Karnataka.
