Monsoon Forecast for June 7, 2018: Monsoon to make onset over Konkan and Goa, good rains likely

During the last 24 hours, active Monsoon conditions were seen over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Monsoon remained normal over Kerala, South Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. Meanwhile, subdued Monsoon conditions prevailed over Karnataka and North Tamil Nadu.

Major contribution came from Kailashahar which saw 66 mm, Long Island at 49 mm, Port Blair 43 mm, Hut Bay 34 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 33 mm and Maya Bandar 31 mm of rain.

During the last 24 hours, country witnessed 9 percent deficit rains. With this, the seasonal countrywide rainfall so far stands at -42 percent. Talking about the regions, South India saw maximum rains and was surplus by 43 percent, followed by Central India at 21 per cent. However, East and Northeast and Northwest India are rain deficient by 45 percent and 56 percent, respectively.

Progressing further, the Northern Limit of Monsoon is now passing through Shirali, Chitradurga, Kurnool, Narsapur, Machlipatnam, Agartala, Lumding and North Lakhimpur.

Southwest Monsoon is expected to cover remaining parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Some parts of Konkan and Goa, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain normal over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, parts of Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Subdued Monsoon rains are likely over South Tamil Nadu and Interior Karnataka. Rains will increase over Konkan and Goa, Rayalaseema and Telangana as Monsoon is expected to make an onset soon.
