Monsoon Forecast for June 5, 2018: Monsoon reaches Bengaluru, Chennai; to visit Hyderabad, Mumbai soon

Southwest Monsoon has now made an onset over the cities of Bengaluru and Chennai. Seems like, Hyderabad and Mumbai will also not have to wait for very long for the arrival of Monsoon.

During the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained active over Kerala, Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Meanwhile, normal monsoon conditions were observed over South Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Lakshadweep.

Major contribution came from Alappuzha where 84 mm of rain was observed followed by Karwar at 73 mm, Car Nicobar at 64 mm, Bellary and Karipur at 60 mm.

During the last 24 hours, country witnessed 3 percent less rainfall. With this, the countrywide rainfall continues to stand at 4 percent. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Central and South India are surplus by 45 and 51 percent. Whereas, East Northeast and Northwest India are deficient by 36 percent and 22 percent.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon is currently passing through Shirali, Chitradurga, Arogyavaram, Sriharikota, Agartala, Lumding and North Lakhimpur. Southwest Monsoon is expected to cover remaining parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema, some parts of South Konkan and Goa, Telangana during the next 48 hours.

Monsoon will remain active over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka as well as over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Whereas, normal monsoon conditions are likely to continue over South Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Lakshadweep.
