Monsoon Forecast for June 27, 2018: Rain in Gujarat, West Bengal, Odisha, Northeast

Monsoon is all set to mark its arrival over the states of Central and East India. The Northern Limit of Monsoon is currently passing through Veraval, Amreli, Ahmedabad, Khandwa, Amravati, Gondia, Titlagarh, Jamshedpur and Supaul.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over South Gujarat, North Konkan and in one of two parts of West Bengal including Kolkata. At the same time, active monsoon conditions were witnessed over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, rest of West Bengal, North Odisha, Northeastern states and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In the last 24 hours, Gujarat's Valsad saw 291 mm rain wherein flooding was also observed Diamond Harbour saw 169 mm, Mahabaleshwar 168 mm and Kolkata 163 mm.

By June 25, the country's rainfall is 12 percent less than normal. South India has received 21% surplus rainfall. However, in the east and northeast, northwest and central India, 28, 30 and 9 percent less rain has been recorded.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is expected to remain active to vigorous over South Gujarat, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and northeastern states, where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility of normal monsoon rains in Central Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and northeastern states. However, monsoon will remain subdued over Vidarbha, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Interior Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
