Monsoon Forecast for June 14, 2018: Rain in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura

During the last 24 hours Southwest Monsoon has not advanced further. The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Thane including Mumbai, Ahmednagar, Buldhana, Amravati, Gondia, Titlagarh, Cuttack, Midnapore, Goalpara and Baghdogra. In fact, Monsoon will not further advance during the next few days.

In the last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon remained active to vigorous over Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and Gangetic West Bengal. Normal monsoon conditions will be seen over remaining northeastern states, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Subdued rains were observed over Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Major rainfall contribution came from Cherrapunji that saw 211 mm of rains followed by Mazbat at 121 mm, and Silchar at 115 mm.

During the last 24 hours, the countrywide rainfall surplus also increased to 19%. Central and Southern India remained rain surplus by 66 percent and 82 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, North India and East and Northeast India are rain deficient by 1 percent and 39, respectively.

In the next 24 hours, monsoon is expected to remain active over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and parts of Assam that would see moderate to heavy rains.

Normal monsoon conditions will give light to moderate rains over Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and parts of Odisha.

Meanwhile, Monsoon will remain subdued over Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
