Monsoon Forecast for Jun 30, 2017: Monsoon in Delhi anytime; Heavy rains in Mumbai

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan and Goa and Coastal Karnataka, while it was active over Kerala, South Gujarat, parts of Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, Monsoon remained subdued over Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, West Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and rest of northeastern states.

Major contribution came from Matheran wherein 226 mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours, followed by Alibag at 199 mm and Bhira 151 mm.

As on June 28, the country witnessed normal rainfall. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, South India is surplus by 14 percent. Whereas, East and Northeast India is deficient by 16 percent.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Barmer, Chittorgarh, Guna, Satna, Siddhi and Patna. Southwest Monsoon is likely to cover remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, parts of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and some more parts of Rajasthan.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over South Gujarat, Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka. Mumbai will continue to record heavy rains.

Live status of Lightning and thunderlightning-in-bengaluru

Kerala, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh will witness active Monsoon. Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over northeastern states, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, foothills of Bihar and Southeast Rajasthan.

On the other hand, Monsoon rains will remain subdued over rest of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and parts of Bihar and Jharkhand.
