Monsoon Forecast for Jun 24, 2017: Monsoon rains to continue over Mumbai and parts of West Coast

Southwest Monsoon remained active over Konkan & Goa, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Manipur, and Nagaland and few parts of Vidarbha and Telangana. Normal Monsoon conditions were observed over northeastern states, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours.

Major contribution came from Matheran that recorded 66 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, followed by Kochi at 47 mm, and Jagdalpur at 45 mm.

The countrywide cumulative rainfall continues to stands at 4% as on June 22. Presently, South Peninsula is surplus by 8% and Northwest India by 46%. The deficient regions include Central India and East and Northeast India at 3 and 6% respectively.

The northern limit of Monsoon is now passing through Valsad, Nashik, Nagpur, Mandla and Patna. Now, Monsoon progress is expected to remain sluggish at least for the next 2-3 days.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon rains may witness an increase over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, several parts of northeastern states, Telangana, Odisha, East Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, Coastal Karnataka and Konkan & Goa. Mumbai may also witness good rains. Meanwhile, subdued rains will occur over Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra.
