The Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the last 24 hours.
Major contribution came from Bankura that recorded 177 mm of rainfall in past 24 hours, followed by Cooch Behar at 143 mm and Digha 142 mm.
The countrywide cumulative rainfall has further decreased and now stands at 5% as on June 19. Presently, South Peninsula is surplus by 17% and Central India by 5%. The only deficient is East and Northeast India at -3%.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Valsad, Nasik, Jamshedpur and Bhagalpur.

During the next 24 hours, vigorous Monsoon conditions are possible to occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and adjoining parts of West Assam and Northeast parts of Bihar.
While active Monsoon conditions are possible over Northeastern states, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka. Monsoon is likely to remain weak over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Marathwada and Telangana.

Light to moderate rains may continue over South Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, North Coastal Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra and Interior Karnataka.
Now, the Monsoon is likely to advance further into some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 to 36 hours.
