Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan & Goa, while it was active over Coastal Karnataka. Normal Monsoon rains continued over northeastern states. Meanwhile, Monsoon current remained weak over Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The major contribution came from Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka. Vengurla in Maharashtra recorded 65 mm of rains, while Marmugoa in Goa recorded 55 mm.
Country continued with excess Monsoon rains during the past 24 hours, with seasonal rainfall being surplus by 18% as on June 8.
The northern limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Vengurla, Tumkur, Nellore, Agartala, William Nagar, and Kokrajhar.

During the next 24 hours, West Coast will continue with good rains with some heavy showers over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mumbai and Visakhapatnam are likely to record moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Kerala and Tamil Nadu will receive subdued Monsoon rains only.

Weather conditions are highly favourable for Monsoon 2017 to advance further during the next 24-48 hours and cover more parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai.
