The axis of Monsoon trough has shifted in the wake of the formation of the system in the Bay of Bengal. Now, the western part of the trough is passing through Anupgarh, Hisar, Meerut, Bahraich while the eastern arm continues to lie close to the foothills of the Himalayas.
In the past day, Monsoon remained vigorous resulting in heavy rains over South Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions were witnessed in Coastal Karnataka, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh, parts of Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal where moderate to heavy rains were recorded.

In the last 24 hours, Cherrapunji recorded maximum rain of 176 mm, followed by Matheran at 165 mm and Mahabaleshwar at 160 mm of rains.
As on July 4, the countrywide cumulative Monsoon rain deficiency continues to stand at - 7%. Region-wise, South and Northwest India are rain surplus by 8% and 15%, respectively. Meanwhile, East & Northeast along with Central India are rain deficient by 21% and 9%, respectively.
During the next 24 hours, Moderate to heavy rains are likely over South Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Southeast Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, West Bengal, Sikkim, North Odisha and parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, Monsoon will remain active to vigorous here.

Meanwhile, Monsoon will be normal over Kerala, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and some parts of Punjab giving moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. Remaining parts of the country will observe subdued Monsoon conditions with isolated light rain or dry weather conditions.
